AnsMed Introduces Ghana’s First-Ever Career Pathway for Caregivers

In a groundbreaking move to transform the landscape of aged and home-based care in Ghana, AnsMed Home Care Ltd has officially launched the country’s first structured career pathway for caregivers. This bold step was announced by the Managing Director, Prince Assandoh-Mensah, during the 9th Anniversary Address at AnsMed’s 4th Graduation Ceremony held on 3rd May 2025 at the Oak City International College campus in Adenta, Accra.

Speaking under the theme “Transforming Care Through Leadership: A New Era for Aged Care in Ghana”, the Managing Director emphasized the need to professionalize caregiving and provide long-term career development opportunities for young people entering the care industry.

“We are proud to lead the way in offering a clear career trajectory for caregivers. This model provides not just jobs, but careers,” said Mr. Assandoh-Mensah. “By investing in our caregivers, we are also investing in the future of Ghana’s aged care system.”

A New Era for Caregiver Growth

The career pathway creates a structured progression beginning from entry-level to leadership and support roles:

• Rotational Caregiver – A flexible, foundational role designed for early experience.

• Primary Caregiver – Assigned clients with more stable and ongoing responsibilities.

• Relief Caregiver – Stepping in when primary caregivers are unavailable, offering more responsibility.

• Field Supervisors, Care Managers, and Tutors – Senior roles reserved for experienced caregivers who wish to move into mentoring, management, and training positions.

Implementation and Impact

The new pathway will be rolled out from 1st June 2025 and is expected to set a new benchmark for caregiving professionalism and retention in Ghana. AnsMed’s initiative addresses a long-standing gap in the sector by introducing career clarity, performance-based advancement, and leadership development within home care services.

This structured progression also aligns with AnsMed Training Institute’s curriculum, which continues to equip caregivers with the required competencies to grow in the field.
